The Imapct of War on Art

The Ancient Mesopotamian Warka Vase lay safely undisturbed in the sands of Iraq for thousands of years. In the middle of the 19th century it was discovered and put on diaplay in Bagdad. In 2002 the museum was looted and the vase was stolen. It was later returned in damaged condition. One of the most important works of art of the cultural heritage of western civilization - ruined beyond repair.
